I don’t know what the weather is like where you live, but here it is H O T!

Salad is what’s for dinner pretty much every night, and the kids really aren’t interested in eating anything other than ice cream. In the five days that my dad was visiting, I think we went to Snooks at least four times.

I’m still working VERY hard to lose a bit of weight

side note, I am LOVING my fitbit flex…best Mother’s day gift ever; I highly recommend it for anyone looking to get, or stay, fit

and ice cream really does not fit into that plan, but it looks SO good

and you know what happens when you want something and cannot have it, it is all you think about

so I decided to make my own creamy frosty concoction, minus most  of the fat and calories

I really cannot believe how well my first attempt turned out; I was completely experimenting, and with only three ingredients I was not sure what to expect.

I started with 1/2 cup of frozen banana chunks and 1 cup of low fat chocolate milk

to that I added 1/2 of a ripe avocado

a few pulses of the blender, and I had a smooth and creamy chocolate shake

I poured my shake, well most of my shake,  into a glass and placed it in the freezer for about 45 minutes

It was the perfect consistency of  a frosty, and totally took care of my ice cream craving…

at least for today

I HAVE to try this! A healthier option for my boys too, and they wouldn’t even know it! It’s about 100 here today too (SoCal), and this would be perfect! Thanks!

I’ve been making homemade ice cream out of bananas because it’s so much healthier. We’ll add PB2 or cocoa powder for variation. Sometimes strawberries or other fruits that are about to reach their point of eating. It’s been a lot of fun, but I’ve never thought about sticking a healthy fat avocaod in there! Odd because avocados are my favorite things ever! This is next on my list to try in the ice cream department! Pinned! Stopped by from Wednesdays Whatsits.

I’m always on the lookout for healthier alternatives to ice cream. This sure beats all the unwanted calories and trips to Sonic and Dairy Queen!
    Thank you for sharing, Heather!
