Right now I am completely frustrated.
I should NOT be putting out these horrible pictures.
Seriously, you don’t have to tell me how bad they are, I already know.
I was so focused on getting them done before dark.
I forced it when I should have just waited until tomorrow.
I snapped away, and NONE were good.
BUT…I really wanted to post this today.
I couldn’t wait to try this recipe.
Chocolate Pasta
two words that you wouldn’t normally use together
I remember seeing a package of chocolate pasta years ago.
I did not buy it then, but for some reason it popped into my head today.
We {well most of us} love chocolate, and
we love pasta {a few of us too much}
It’s really just a basic pasta dough with the addition of cocoa powder, and
it smells SO good when you are rolling and cutting
I wanted to keep it simple, so I used a simple butter sauce with a few Fresno chilies {this may have been a tad too hot for the kiddos} and some freshly grated Parmesan.
YUM
I enjoy spicy, and it’s a great partner to chocolate, but you could always use a mild pepper in place of the chili.
The pasta was delicious; PLEASE do not judge it by my terrible pics:(
Enjoy!
For the pasta:
2 cups of flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup of good quality unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp olive oil
water
Combine the flour and cocoa powder
make a well in the center of the flour
add the egg and oil in to the well
mix/knead into a ball
cover with a damp towel and let sit for 30 minutes
cut into noodles {I LOVE my pasta maker}
fresh pasta cooks very quickly – about 4 – 6 minutes
Sauce:
1 – 2 chilies thinly sliced {seeds removed}
1 stick of butter
melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat
add in the chilies
cook until the butter begins to brown
toss with the pasta
sprinkle on freshly shaved Parmesan
trust me it tastes SO much better than it looks

This sounds awesome! And you are too hard on yourself – this photos are not that bad
We both had spicy chocolate on the brain this week. Love it!!
thanks:)
What a fun sounding pasta!
Chocolate pasta sounds so intriguing! And uh, how come I didn’t know that making homemade pasta is so stinkin’ easy?!
it’s easy – just a bit time consuming to roll and cut – but SO worth the extra fuss
oh my
who knew
you could put chocolate
and pasta in the same sentence?
yum

I love you for combining my two most absolute things to eat!!! Ugh, this is heaven! My family is going to go nuts over this! Thank you for this recipe!
I have never heard of chocolate pasta, but it sounds amazing!!
This is really interesting. Is the pasta very sweet? I have a pasta maker on my kitchen aid it really is better homemade.
the pasta is not sweet at all – but you could add sugar and make it a dessert pasta – using a cream sauce – or with berries – YUM
Oh, yum. This sounds soooo good. I’ve never made homemade pasta. Chocolate? Yes please!
i think it’s definitely worth a try, but now Stella refuses to eat any pasta that isn’t homemeade
