Hello Dollies
aka
Seven Layer Bars
Growing up, this was a staple in our home especially around the holidays.
I LOVED these!
…sill do, except I have one non nut eater, and two non coconut eaters.
bummer
Wouldn’t be much of a layer bar now would they.
I raided my pantry, and came up with a slightly modified version of the Hello Dolly.
For the bars:
2 cups of graham cracker crumbs
I used homemade chocolate and peanut butter grahams because that was what I had
1/2 cup of melted butter
1 cup of mini pb cups
1 cup of chocolate chips
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
combine the crumbs and melted butter
press into a square baking pan
top the crumbs with the pb cups
chocolate chips
pour on the condensed milk
bake @325 for 25 – 30 minutes
the milk will be bubbling and browned
allow to cool completely before cutting
(they cut much easier if you chill them a bit first)
yeah…I didn’t exactly wait long enough
these bars are SUPER sweet, so it’s best to cut them into tiny squares
Not exactly like the original, but darn good.
Enjoy!

Holy cow!!! Those sound awesome!!! Do you have any left…cause I’m on my way:-)
please take some off my hands:) I’ve eaten too many already!
This is one of my favorite cookies/bars…EVER! I use butterscotch chips…but peanut butter sound delightful!
i wish my kids ate butterscotch:)
