project Food Budget – week 1

project FOOD BUDGET – week 1
Once again, late to the party – is this becoming a theme for me?
The Budget savvy bloggers are mid-way through their 52 week challenge. I am on week 1.
Better late than never.
My goal had always been to feed my family of 4 (and feed well) for $100.
I was really doing well until we moved in October.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped making meal and grocery lists, and if I did make a list, I usually left it at  home.
~ doesn’t do much good there
This group was just what I needed to get my budget back on track; I only wished I found it sooner.
I was doing well – $104 at Trader Joe’s.  I could  have declared success!
Do  you hear the BUT coming?
I needed peaches for my daughter’s James and the Giant Peach  school potluck party.
Just a quick stop at Whole Foods for peaches.
$50 later, I had my peaches (and a few extras.)
Moral of the story – make a list, shop once, and if your forgot it – improvise:)
There’s always next week.

  1. Welcome to the food budget party! :) Glad you found the group, and I look forward to following how you do in the coming months!

  2. Welcome… glad you found the group. And you sound like me right before I started.

  3. What a great project idea! I’ve had similar situations where I completely overspent from a shopping trip meant for only 1 or 2 items!
